First, you will visit the incredible ancient Temple of Philae which was devoted to the goddesses Isis and Hathor. From here you will head off to see the gigantic Unfinished Obelisk which is still laying on its side because the project was aborted prior to being completed. Enjoy a good hotel breakfast, and then it will be time to check-out. At the time which will have been confirmed with you, your guide will meet you, and you will board a modern air-coach which will be taking you to one of Egypt’s most infamous ancient attractions: the indescribable Abu Simbel Temples. These two massive rock-cut temples where built not only to highly the great power which Pharaoh Ramses II enjoyed during his reign, but also to serve as lasting monuments of him and his wife Queen Nefertari. Pharaoh Ramses dedicated these two temples to four universal gods: Ptah; Re-Her-Akhtey; Amun-Re, and himself. Another very interesting thing about these two temples is the fact that Pharaoh Ramses named his one the Sun Temple of Ramses II, and called his wife’s one the Temple of Hathor, the sun god. Symbolically, this meant that the two temples would bring himself, his wife, and the sun god together as one. Interestingly, both of these giant temples were relocated to their current location in order to prevent them being lost forever to the rising waters of Lake Nasser following the construction of the Aswan High Dam. Today they are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of Egypt’s most cherished archeological sites. Following your visit to the Abu Simbel Temples, your tour coach will then return to Aswan, and you will be taken for your Nile cruise embarkation. Shortly after boarding, you will be served your first good lunch on the vessel, and then you will have the remainder of the day to yourself. This night of your Cairo to Abu Simbel Tour will be spent in your cabin on the water at Aswan Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Begin the 5th day of your Cairo to Abu Simbel Tour with a nice leisurely breakfast, and then sit back and relax while your 5-Star cruise ship sails to Kom Ombo. When you get to Kom Ombo, our tour guide who sails with the ship will escort you and a small group of our other clients to see the remarkable Kom Ombo Temple which was dedicated to two different gods. One half was dedicated to Sobek the crocodile god, while the other half was dedicated to Horus who is depicted as a human with the head of a falcon. After your stop at Kom Ombo, the vessel will then begin sailing to Edfu, with a good lunch being served along the way. When you reach Edfu, your tour guide will then escort you and the other member of your group to see Edfu Temple which is also known as Horus Temple. This is Egypt’s best preserved ancient temple, thanks to the fact that it got buried beneath the sand and remained that way for about 2,000 years. Next, you will return to the ship, and it will then begin sailing to Esna. Enjoy afternoon tea along the way, followed by another go dinner on board the vessel in the evening. This night of your Cairo to Abu Simbel Tour will be spend on the water at Esna. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Wake up on the water and enjoy a leisurely breakfast while sailing slowly towards Luxor. On arrival in Luxor, you and the other member of your group will then be taken for a tour on the Luxor West Bank, during which you will visit 3 amazing sites: Valley of the Kings; the mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon. Valley of the Kings is an ancient royal burial ground where more than 60 tombs where discovered, including the tomb of King Tutankhamen which was discovered still sealed and intact in the early 20th century by Howard Carter. Nearly all of the artifacts and treasures which were discovered in his tomb are on display in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, but a few remain in his tomb, along with his mummy. An admission ticket for his tomb is not included in the price of our Cairo to Abu Simbel Tour package. The reason for this being that those who wish to enter his tomb are required to purchase their own tickets at the site. Also, only a certain amount of visitors are allowed in each day, and queues tend to start forming very early in the morning. After your West Bank excursion, your tour guide will accompany you back to the cruise ship and the remainder of the day will be yours to enjoy as you wish. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Enjoy one last breakfast on the cruise ship, and then it will be time for check-out and disembarkation. After you have disembarked, you will then be taken to visit another two spectacular ancient sites located on the Luxor East Bank. First you will visit Karnak Temple, and then you will visit Luxor Temple. Karnak Temple was essentially a vast complex of temples and other related structures that grew over a period of more than 2,000 years. Although only ruins remain, there is just so much to see here in what is believed to be the largest place of worship ever discovered. Once your East Bank excursion is over, you will then be transferred to the airport, and you will board a short flight back to Cairo. On arrival in Cairo, you will once again be met at the airport and then driven you the hotel where you will be staying for the last night of your Cairo to Abu Simbel Tour. Meals Included: Breakfast
Unfortunately, your Cairo to Abu Simbel Tour ends today, but before you go anywhere, first enjoy a good breakfast at the hotel. At the appropriate time, our tour representative and one of our drivers will meet you and then escort you to Cairo International Airport. On arrival at the airport, you will again be assisted in any way possible, and then sadly it will be times for final goodbyes so that you can proceed through check-in in time for your flight. Thank you for choosing Egypt Tours Plus, and we hope you have a safe and pleasant onward journey. Meals Included: Breakfast
